The Final Round competitor schedule for the 2016 Montreal International Violin Competition, in Montreal, Canada has been announced – including 3 VC ‘Young Artists’.

 

2016 MONTREAL INTERNATIONAL VIOLIN COMPETITION | FINAL ROUND | DAY 1

 

Monday May 30th

7.30pm (EDT)

  • Ji Won Song (South Korea) – Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto in D Major
  • VC ‘Young Artist’ Fedor Rudin (France/Russia) – Wieniawski Violin Concerto No. 1 in F Sharp Minor
  • Minami Yoshida (Japan) – Sibelius Violin Concerto in D Minor

 

Tuesday May 31st

7.30pm (EDT)

  • VC ‘Young Artist’ Ayana Tsuji (Japan) – Sibelius Violin Concerto in D Minor
  • VC ‘Young Artist’ Bomsori Kim (South Korea) – Shostakovich Violin Concerto No. 1 in A Minor
  • Petteri Iivonen (Finland) – Sibelius Violin Concerto in D Minor

Open to violinists of any nationality, aged 29 years or younger, the 1st prize winner will receive $30,000 CAD (US $23,000) – and a number of important international engagements.

This year’s jury comprises: Pierre Amoyal, Boris Brott, Boris Garlitsky, Ida Kavafian, Mihaela Martin, Vera Tsu Wei-Ling and Kathleen Winkler.

Previous prize winners include VC ‘Artists’ Benjamin Beilman, Nikita Borioso-Glebsky, Stephen Waarts, Zeyu Victor Li and Fedor Rudin.
