The 52 opening round candidates have today been announced for the 2016 Wieniawski International Violin Competition, to be held in Poznań, Poland from October 8th to 23rd, 2016 – including VC ‘Young Artists’ Bomsori Kim, Richard Lin & Erzhan Kulibaev.

Open to violinists of any nationality, born between 1986 and 2000, the 1st prize winner will receive €30,000 (US $33,000).

The 2016 jury will include: Krzysztof Penderecki (Honorary Chairman), Maxim Vengerov (Chairman) and Konstanty Andrzej Kulka – with further details to be announced.

Previous prize winners include luminaries Ginette Neveu, David Oistrakh, Henry Temianka, Boris Goldstein, Ida Haendel, Igor Oistrakh.
