The 2020 Lillian and Maurice Barbash J.S. Bach String Competition has announced that the competition this year will be held completely online – due to the ongoing COVID pandemic.
Originally planned to be held at Stony Brook University in Long Island, New York on December 1st, 2020 – the competition will now take place, streamed via The Violin Channel.
Open to international string players 16 to 30 years of age, the 1st prize winner will receive $5000 – plus a performance invitation to the Island Symphony Bach Festival.
The 2020 jury will comprise: Stephanie Chase, Stanley Ritchie, Tanya Tomkins, Philip Setzer and Colin Carr.
Previous 1st prize winners include: baroque violinist Rachell Ellen Wong.
