Alan Gilbert Appointed New Guest Conductor of Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony

The Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony has this week announced the appointment of American conductor Alan Gilbert as their new Guest Conductor - effective from April 2018. 

“Over the last years some of my happiest musical memories have been with the wonderful orchestra … each time we have worked together we have found a special chemistry,” Maestro Gilbert has said.

Alan Gilbert served as Music Director of the New York Philharmonic from 2009 until the end of the 2016/2017 season - and will additionally take up the position of Chief Conductor of the NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra from the commencement of the 2019/2020 season.
