The London-based Allegri String Quartet has today announced the new appointment of 27-year-old 1st violinist, Martyn Jackson.

A graduate of the Hochschule für Musik “Hanns Eisler” Berlin and the Royal College of Music, Martyn has served previously as Assistant Concertmaster of the London Symphony Orchestra and BBC Symphony – and as 1st violinist with the Cavaleri String Quartet.

He will replace violinist Ofer Falk – who has stood down from the chair to focus on his teaching career.

Founded in 1953 by Eli Goren and William Pleeth, Allegri is recognized as Britain’s oldest chamber group.
