Columbia Artists Management, in New York City, has this week announced the signing of 13 year old musical prodigy Alma Deutscher to their roster – for management representation in North America.
Born in 2005, the prodigious composer, violinist and pianist, premiered her first full piano sonata at aged 6, first opera at 7 – and first full length violin concerto aged just 9.
Alma’s 3 hour length opera, ‘Cinderella’ premiered in Vienna in 2016, aged 11 – under the patronage of Maestro Zubin Mehta.
A special 75 minute children’s version of the work was performed in January 2018 by the Vienna State Opera.

“What is fascinating about Alma Deutscher is that she really can do it all …” Renate Wagner of Germany’s Volksblatt newspaper has said.
“Her composition is fully-fledged … she creates arias that challenge the singers … and an instrumentation that makes you sit up and listen again and again,” she has said.
“Alma is an intelligent young lady and a brilliant young talent who can produce an opera, concertos and chamber music pieces that are of very high musical quality … and very pleasing for the audience …” Veteran Columbia Artists Manager Doug Sheldon has told The Violin Channel.
“Right now she is a phenomenon … of course the talent has to grow, but her talent is from within, not from teachers, and her growth will hopefully be natural and of its own course …” he has said.
“Her contract is signed by her father … and he and I have to work together to support her and protect her and nourish her without stifling her musical talent and growth,” Sheldon, whose clients include conductors Jaap van Zweden, Valery Gergiev and Leonard Slatkin, violinists Anne-Sophie Mutter and Vadim Repin and pianists Denis Matsuev and Khatia Buniatishvili, has asserted.
Alma is represented by Askonas Holt for all regions outside of North America.
