American violinist Michael Rabin died on this day in 1972, 45 years ago - aged just 35.
He is remembered as one of the pre-eminent virtuosi of the 20th Century – described by legendary pedagogue Ivan Galamian as having 'no weaknesses, never'.
He died from a head injury sustained from a fall in his apartment.
