Andre Rieu has postponed the remainder of his December ‘Andre Rieu Live’ UK arena tour – due to a long-standing member of his orchestra suffering a heart attack
It has been announced today that violinist Andre Rieu has postponed the remainder of his December ‘Andre Rieu Live’ UK arena tour – due to a long-standing member of his Johann Strauss Orchestra suffering a heart attack on Saturday morning.
As previously announced on The Violin Channel, Rieu postponed Saturday evening’s arena spectacular in Nottingham - but has today announced further cancellations at London’s Wembley Arena tomorrow evening, in Birmingham on the 21st, Manchester on the 22nd and Glasgow on the 23rd of December.
‘It is with deep regret that I have decided to also postpone my concerts in London, Birmingham, Manchester and Glasgow,” the Dutch superstar violinist has said.
“Many of my orchestra members have been with me for more than 25 years … we are a family … we are deeply saddened by this tragic event and it is impossible for us to continue our tour as planned …” he has said.
“Thank you all so much for your understanding in this difficult moment ... our hearts and thoughts are now with our colleague and his family.’
The musician remains in hospital in a critical condition and new rescheduled dates will be announced shortly, a spokesperson has told The Violin Channel.
