Another Cleveland Institute of Music Faculty Member to Depart
Violinist Stephen Rose will leave the conservatory after an over 20 year tenure
Violinist Stephen Rose, who has taught violin at the Cleveland Institute of Music (CIM) since 2001, will be leaving his position.
The Violin Channel has confirmed the news with a representative of CIM. "While we cannot comment on personnel matters, I can confirm that Mr. Rose will move on from CIM at the end of the 2024-25 academic year," they wrote.
The news comes after multiple other faculty members left the conservatory in 2023 and 2024, including harpist Yolanda Kondonassis and trumpet player Michael Sachs.
Stephen Rose is currently the principal second violin of The Cleveland Orchestra. He joined the orchestra in April 1997 as a member of the first violin section. He previously served as the first violinist of the Everest Quartet from 1992 to 1996.
Rose teaches regularly at the New World Symphony, National Orchestral Institute, and Kent Blossom Music Festival and performs at summer music festivals including the Seattle Chamber Music Festival, Mimir Chamber Music Festival, Pacific Music Festival, and the Colorado College Music Festival.
A graduate of the Cleveland Institute of Music and the Eastman School of Music, he received the Alumni Achievement Award from CIM in 2005.
