Applications Closing for Indiana University's Summer String Academy 2023
IU's Jacobs School of Music welcomes young and serious string players between the ages of 12 and 18 for a summer intensive
Indiana University, in Bloomington, IN, has reinstated its Summer String Academy after a three-year hiatus.
Hosted at the university's Jacobs School of Music, the program for young string players will take place from Saturday, June 17th - Saturday, July 15th, 2023.
Founded in 1984, the intensive and varied program features private lessons, chamber music, master classes, performance opportunities, practice time, and the 2023 Indiana University Summer Music Festival.
This year's faculty includes director Mimi Zweig (violin/viola), Richard Aaron (cello), Brenda Brenner (violin), Roeland Jagers (viola/chamber music), Sarah Kapustin (violin/chamber music), Sarah Koo (cello), Pasha Sabouri (violin).
Interested applicants should submit two contrasting movements or pieces plus a letter of recommendation from a teacher.
A maximum of 60 registrants are chosen for the program. Applications are to be received by March 15, 2023.
