Applications Open for 16th International Henryk Wieniawski Violin Competition
Open to international violinists between the ages of 16 and 32 years old, the competition will be held in Poznań, Poland from October 7 - 21, 2022
Established in 1935, the International Henryk Wieniawski Violin Competition is one of the most significant events in the classical music world, with its first prize of €50,000.
"I wish to extend an invitation to all talented (and there are no people devoid of talent!) young players who would like to take part in the Competition, which will surely become for them a source of great satisfaction," said Deputy Chairman of the Jury, Daniel Stabrawa.
"I believe it is very important for young musicians to meet established artists who have already covered most of their artistic paths," he added. "Ones, who nevertheless continue to play and, at the same time, try to promote younger musicians and share their expertise with them. A great thrill for us, it is, I believe, quite an experience for violin players only at the onset of their artistic careers to yield themselves to our judgment. To listen to the opinion — even critical — from a musician like Augustin Dumay, is already worth the while — even if one were not to win the Competition!"
The preliminary selection jury will include Augustin Dumay (Chairman), Daniel Stabrawa, and Madeleine Caruzzo.
Previous first prize winners of the competition include Ginette Neveu, Igor Oistrakh, Piotr Janowski, Alena Baeva, Soyoung Yoon, and Veriko Tchumburide.
Applications are to be received by January 10, 2022.
