Applications Open for the 2025 Tibor Varga International Violin Competition
Open to international violinists aged up to 30, the competition will be held in Switzerland from August 22–30, 2025
Held biennially in Sion, Switzerland, the Tibor Varga International Violin Competition is dedicated to discovering and promoting new talented artists of all nationalities.
This year’s edition includes new features such as the increased age range from 17 to 30 years old for applicants, as well as a third chamber music round, where violinists will perform with a pianist, cellist, and soprano.
Additionally, there will now only be one final round with an orchestra. The third and final rounds will also be part of the Sion Festival 2025 program and will be held in the new Noda BCVS Hall.
The first prize winner will receive CHF 20,000; second place is CHF 10,000 and third prize is awarded with CHF 5,000.
Special prizes include the CHF 3,000 Prize of the Best Interpretation of the commissioned piece, as well as the Audience and Youth Jury Prizes worth CHF 500 each.

Those accepted in the video pre-selection round will play the world premiere of a work composed specially for the 2025 Competition in Round 1. A maximum of 28 candidates will be chosen.
The 2025 international jury will comprise Adrian Oetiker, Ariadne Daskalakis, Fumiaki Miura, Lucie Robert, Monika Baer, Pavel Vernikov, Sunny Lee, and Thomas Grossenbacher.
