From September 25 to October 3, 2025, exceptional young violinists and violists will have the opportunity to study with world-renowned teachers at the Kronberg Academy Violin and Viola Masterclasses in Germany.
Since 2009, these prestigious masterclasses have provided a platform for outstanding students worldwide to refine their artistry under the guidance of acclaimed pedagogues. The 2025 edition will take place alongside the Kronberg Festival, offering participants a chance to learn, perform, and immerse themselves in a vibrant musical environment.
This year’s faculty includes:
- Kolja Blacher
- Mihaela Martin
- Vadim Gluzman
- Donald Weilerstein
- Tabea Zimmermann
- Nobuko Imai
The masterclasses are open to international violinists and violists aged 28 and under (born in or after 1997). Applicants can choose between active and passive participation:
- Active participants receive at least two masterclass sessions with their tutor and may be selected to perform in the final concerts.
- Passive participants can attend all masterclasses and selected festival concerts, gaining valuable insight through observation.
Students may apply with or without a piano accompanist.
The program will culminate in two final concerts, where selected students will perform and have the opportunity to receive one of four prestigious sponsorship awards: the Manfred Grommek Prize for Young String Players, Prince of Hesse Prize, Ana Chumachenco Award, and the Nobuko Imai Sponsorship Award.
Applications will open on March 10, 2025, and the deadline to apply is June 2, 2025.
