Applications Open for China's Tianjin Juilliard's Graduate Studies Program
Applications are open for Tianjin Juilliard School — the educational first joint venture to offer a U.S-accredited music degree in China.
Applications are now open for Tianjin Juilliard's Graduate Studies Program. Offered exclusively in collaborative majors — orchestral studies, chamber music, and collaborative piano — musicians will earn a Master of Music degree from The Juilliard School.
All admitted students are considered for scholarships based on the Graduate Studies application, audition results, academic records, recommendations, and institutional need for each program and instrument.
Outstanding applicants of the highest artistic merit will receive The Tianjin Juilliard Fellowship, receiving a full-tuition, merit-based scholarship, and a professional development stipend. Fellows will experience enhanced programmatic opportunities, including performances throughout China and overseas, teaching experience, and community engagement.
Beginning this year, an annual competition for concerto performances will select two student soloists to perform with the Tianjin Juilliard Orchestra in the spring. Led by renowned conductors from both China and abroad, the Tianjin Juilliard Orchestra presents up to ten concerts each season.
Additionally, pre-formed string quartets and piano trios applying to the Chamber Music program will be considered for the Tianjin Juilliard Chamber Music Fellowship Program. The graduate-level program accepts a string quartet and a piano trio to pursue the two-year Master of Music degree in chamber music under the mentorship of the Tianjin Juilliard Resident Faculty, including members of the Shanghai Quartet and visiting faculty from The Juilliard School in New York, including the Juilliard String Quartet.
Each member of the Tianjin Juilliard fellowship ensemble will receive the full-tuition fellowship, as well as on-campus housing, and a professional development stipend. The fellowship string quartet will also be given the opportunity to participate in the annual Juilliard String Quartet Seminar in New York.
The current Tianjin Juilliard Chamber Music fellowship ensemble is the MILA Quartet.
Applications, and all other materials, are due by January 7, 2022. The priority deadline is December 15, 2021.
