The Seattle Youth Symphony Orchestra (SYSO) is seeking a new Executive Director, to begin in early 2023.
The SYSO is one of America's largest youth orchestras, with more than 1800 young people taking part in six different orchestras each year. Many of its graduates have gone on to notable careers, including three members of the Kronos Quartet.
The program is co-led by the Executive Director and the current Music Director, Juan Felipe Molano. The successful applicant will manage the organization's annual operating budget of $2.2 million and will report to a governing board of 15 members.
The SYSO's finances, administration, leadership, and personnel are all the responsibility of the Executive Director. Because of the variety of the role, the candidate will need to have proven skills in all these areas, as well as a strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
The remuneration for this position is $115-130k depending on experience, with healthcare and retirement also part of the package.
