Australia’s Sydney Symphony Orchestra Names 2025 Orchestral Fellows
This year, 12 emerging artists have been selected to play with the orchestra and receive professional mentorship
Founded in 2001, the Sydney Symphony Orchestra’s (SSO) year-long Fellowship program offers young Australian musicians aged up to 29 the opportunity to gain industry experience and train with world-class artists.
Each year, prospective candidates undergo a competitive two-stage audition process and are selected from hundreds of applications all over Australia.
The 2025 Fellows are:
- Liam Pilgrim (violin)
- Natalie Mavridis (violin)
- Ariel Postmus (viola)
- Noah Lawrence (cello)
- Harry Young (double bass)
- Dana Alison (flute)
- Amy Clough (oboe)
- Oliver Crofts (clarinet)
- Bailey Ireland (bassoon)
- Bryn Arnold (horn
- Isabella Thomas (trumpet)
- Jeremy Mazurek (trombone)
Across the year, the Fellows will participate in masterclasses and receive tailored mentorship from SSO musicians, plus perform a diverse range of musical styles. They will also play in chamber and orchestral performances — from mainstage concerts to Learning and Engagement activities and regional programs.
Many alumni of the program have been appointed to permanent positions in the SSO, and 80% of past cohorts find positions in orchestras all over the world.
“We're thrilled to welcome 12 outstanding young musicians to this year's Sydney Symphony Fellowship program,” the SSO posted on Facebook.
