Austrian composer and educator Balduin Sulzer has passed away – aged 87.

A graduate of the University of Vienna, Bruckner Conservatory and the Vienna Academy of Music, Professor Sulzer served a long term teaching position on faculty at the Bruckner Conservatory, in Linz, Austria – his famed students including conductor Franz Welser-Möst, tenor Kurt Azesberger and the soprano Anna Maria Pammer.

He composed over 400 works during his lifetime – including four operas, a children’s musical, nine symphonies, twelve instrumental concertos – and a large body of chamber pieces.
