VISION Collective Hosts Benefit Concert Series for Ukraine

Three concerts will be held in New York City to raise funds to support refugees and citizens of Ukraine impacted by conflict

The VISION Collective was co-founded in 2018 at the Juilliard School with the mission to form relationships with and among refugees and new Americans by exchanging music through diverse communities.

Titled “VISION + Friends — A Benefit Concert Series for Ukraine,” this project will take place in New York City throughout this October. The funds raised from these concerts will go to organizations providing resources and support to Ukrainian refugees and Ukrainians currently in Ukraine. 

Featuring a wide range of classical chamber music works, with a focus on pieces written by Ukrainian composers, the concert series involves over 50 performers — including the Ivalas Quartet and Marian String Quartet. Featured composers include Gabriella Lena Frank, Jean-Marie Leclair, Mykola Lysenko, Myroslav Skoryk, Valentin Silvestrov, Caroline Shaw, Yuliy Meitus, Florence Price, Rebecca Clarke, Antonín Dvorák, and David Popper.

The first concert in the series will be held on October 13, 2022, at the Broadway Presbyterian Church and will benefit the Kyiv School of Economics Foundation. This performance will also be live-streamed on VISION’s YouTube channel here.

The second concert is on October 22 at the Eat Offbeat in Chelsea Market, which will see funds go to the Ukrainian Community Center of Washington. The final concert will be on October 28 at Spectrum — its funds will benefit the Sunflower of Peace.

The VISION Collective is led by its executive director and cellist Drake Driscoll, as well as violist and director of programming Sarah Sung, and VC Artist Timothy Chooi who holds the role of artistic advisor.
