Candidates Announced at Italy’s 2021 Il Piccolo Violino Magico Competition

The 2021 Il Piccolo Violino Magico Competition, in San Vito al Tagliamento, Italy, announced its opening-round candidates:

  • Anton Carus (12, United States)

  • Joan Melero Esteve (14, Switzerland/Spain)

  • Madeline Goh (14, Singapore)

  • Julia Raphaela Kasprzak (12, Germany)

  • Elizabeth Lee (12, United States)

  • Estelle Presler (10, Switzerland)

  • Viktoria Svichkarenko (11, Russia)

  • Yume Tomita (13, United Kingdom/Japan)

  • Naz Irem Turkmen (14, Turkey)

  • Viktor Vasilev (13, Bulgaria)

  • Sandra Vasylkova (12, Ukraine)

  • Xiaozhuo Wang (13, Austria/China)

  • Lauren Yoon (12, United States/South Korea)

 

Eight potential candidates have been selected for the opportunity to come to San Vito al Tagliamento and compete for the 3 extra spots in this year's competition.

The 2021 potential candidates are:

  • Elisa Carletti (13, Italy)

  • Diana Chausheva (13, Bulgaria)

  • Kotamarty Neal Eisfeldt (12, United States)

  • Juan José Aguirre Peña (11, Switzerland/Colombia)

  • Kornii Sheldunov (10, Ukraine)

  • Nickita Zhang (11, United States)

  • Tao-Yuan Hsiao (12, Croatia/Taiwan)

  • Mathilda Dendorfer (13, Germany)

Open to violinists of any nationality aged 9-14, the first prize winner will receive €5,000, an instrument made by contemporary Italian violin maker Fabio Piagentini, and a number of important concert engagements.

The 2021 jury will comprise Pavel Vernikov, Federico Guglielmo, Ting Jia, Mintcho Mintchev, Christiane LeBlanc, Julia Purgina, and Alexandre Snitkovski.
