The 11 candidates progressing to the semi-final stage of the 2018 Carl Flesch International Violin Competition have been announced
The 11 candidates progressing to the semi-final stage of the 2018 Carl Flesch International Violin Competition have just minutes ago been announced – in Mosonmagyaróvár, Hungary.
The 2018 semi-finalists are:
- Eryu Feng (China)
- Lorenz Karls (Austria)
- Eszter Kökény (Hungary)
- Gyeong Ye Lim (Korea)
- Haruka Nagao (Japan)
- Areg Navasardyan (Armenia)
- Alexis Roussine (France)
- Máté Soós (Hungary)
- Louisa Staples (Great Britain)
- Misaki Tanaka (Japan)
- Julia Turnovsky (Austria)
For the semi-final stage, each candidate will present 2 movements from a Mozart Violin Concerto - plus a virtuoso work.
Open to European-based violinists 30 years and younger, previous 1st prize winners include VC Young Artist Lara Boschkor.
The 2018 jury comprises: Eszter Perényi (President), Márta Ábrahám, Jurgis Dvarionas, Frantisek Novotny, and Michael Vaiman.
