Cellist Edgar Moreau's New Album, "Rococo"
Released on Warner Classics and Erato, the album features Tchaikovsky’s Rococo Variations and works by Chopin, Dvořák, Rachmaninoff, and Shostakovich
French cellist Edgar Moreau has released a new album, Rococo, on Warner Classics and Erato. The release features Tchaikovsky’s Rococo Variations performed by Moreau, the Luzerner Sinfonie Orchester, and conductor Michael Sanderling. The album also features several arrangements of works by Frédéric Chopin, Antonín Dvořák, Sergei Rachmaninoff, and Dmitri Shostakovich, recorded with pianist David Kadouch.
In addition to the Rococo Variations, the album features Chopin's Cello Sonata Op. 65 in G Minor, an original work for the cello, along with an arrangement by Edgar and David, of Chopin's Nocturne No. 21 in C Minor, Op. Posth.
The remaining works on the album are pieces arranged for the cello and piano, many of which were arranged by Edgar and David. These include Dvořák's 8 Humoresques Op. 101 No. 7, Poco lento e grazioso and Gypsy Songs Op. 55, Songs My Mother Taught Me, Rachmaninoff's 12 Romances Op. 21 No. 9, Melody, and Shostakovich's Jazz Suite Op. 50b No. 2, Waltz.
With an array of works by some of classical music's most revered composers, the album highlights Edgar's versatile artistry in various settings.

Born in 1994, Cellist Edgar Moreau released his debut album on Erato in March 2014. Since 2023, Edgar has taught at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris as a Professor of Cello, and continues to perform globally with orchestras and chamber ensembles.
