SAD NEWS | Former New York & Philadelphia Principal Cellist Lorne Munroe Has Died [RIP]

Canadian-born American cellist Lorne Munroe has passed away – aged 95

Canadian-born American cellist Lorne Munroe has passed away – aged 95.

A graduate of London's Royal College of Music and the Curtis Institute of Music, where his teachers included Gregor Piatigorksy and Orlando Cole, Mr Munroe served as Principal Cellist with the Philadelphia Orchestra from 1951-1964 - and as Principal Cellist the New York Philharmonic from 1964 until his retirement in 1996.

Our condolences are with Mr Munroe's family, friends, colleagues and students.
