The Georges Enescu Philharmonic has announced the appointment of conductor Christian Zacharias as its new Honorary Conductor
The Georges Enescu Philharmonic, in Bucharest, Romania has this week announced the appointment of German pianist and conductor Christian Zacharias as its new Honorary Conductor – effective from the commencement of the 2020-21 season.
Maestro Zacharias, 70, has previously served principal conducting positions with the Barcelona Symphony, Lausanne Chamber Orchestra and the Gothenburg Symphony.
“We are honored that Maestro Christian Zacharias accepted to become the Honorary Director of the Philharmonic - a position previously held only by Sergiu Celibidache after his return to Romania in 1990,” Orchestra General Manager Andrei Dimitriu has this week said.
