Today is celebrated Australian conductor Simone Young’s birthday!

A graduate of the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, and former assistant to James Conlon and Daniel Barenboim, Maestra Young has served principal conducting positions with the Bergen Philharmonic, Opera Australia, Hamburg State Opera and the Hamburg Philharmonic.

She holds the honour of being the first female in history to be invited to conduct the Vienna Philharmonic and Vienna State Opera.
