The London Philharmonic has today announced principal conductor and artistic advisor Vladimir Jurowski is set to step down from the ensemble at the end of the 2020-2021 season.

As announced on The Violin Channel earlier this week, Maestro Jurowski will commence his new appointment as Music Director of the Bavarian State Opera, in Munich, in September 2020.

The London Philharmonic has indicated the 45 year old Russian-born conductor will return regularly as a guest conductor with the ensemble.

The orchestra has also indicated a successor will be announced in due course.
