Dorn Music Signs Two New Artists
Cellist Marie-Elisabeth Hecker and pianist Martin Helmchen have now joined the agency for worldwide general management
Both hailing from Germany, the married pair cellist Marie-Elisabeth Hecker and pianist Martin Helmchen are the newest artists to sign with Dorn Music, where they will be represented worldwide by Tanja Dorn.
Hecker’s international career launched upon her win at Paris’s 2005 Rostropovich Competition, where she became the first participant in the event’s history to win the top prize and two special prizes.
She has since performed with the Antwerp Symphony Orchestra, BBC Symphony, Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin, Filarmonica della Scala, Gewandhausorchester Leipzig, Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, Orchestre de Paris, Orchestre National de France, Orchestre Philharmonique de Luxembourg, Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Berlin, Staatskapelle Berlin, and Wiener Symphoniker.
Additionally, she performs recitals with Helmchen and regularly appears in chamber music concerts with Antje Weithaas, Christian Teztlaff, Carolin Widmann, Isabelle Faust, Augustin Hadelich, Vilde Frang, and VC Artist Stephen Waarts. Hecker has also released four critically acclaimed albums under the Alpha Classics label.
A multi-ECHO award winner, Helmchen has performed with noted orchestras worldwide and in 2020, was the recipient of the Gramophone Classical Music Award.
Additionally, he is the co-founder and co-artistic director of the Fliessen Festival, alongside Hecker, and since 2010, has served as an Associate Professor of Chamber Music at the Kronberg Academy.
Also a recording artist with Alpha Classics, he regularly collaborates with conductors including Herbert Blomstedt, Christoph von Dohnányi, Alan Gilbert, Manfred Honeck, Jakub Hrůša, Paavo Järvi, Vladimir Jurowski, Fabio Luisi, Andrew Manze, Klaus Mäkelä, Andris Nelsons, Sakari Oramo, Tarmo Peltokoski, and Kazuki Yamada.
His close chamber music partners include Hecker, Frank Peter Zimmermann, Julian Prégardien, Hadelich, and Weithaas. He has also performed as a guest at the BBC Proms and the Tanglewood, Lucerne, Marlboro, and Aspen music festivals.
