Erich Wolfgang Korngold Violin Concerto in D Major Op. 35 premiered on this day in 1945.
The first performance was given by Jascha Heifetz with the St. Louis Symphony – under conductor Vladimir Golschmann.
Having vowed to give up composing for the concert hall, during the Second World War, it was the first work Korngold penned following Hitler’s defeat.
