Former Curtis Institute Dean Robert Fitzpatrick has Died, Age 75
Fitzpatrick served as dean of Curtis from 1986 until 2009 and passed away following a prolonged illness
He was a 1968 graduate of the school for clarinet, having studied with Anthony Gigliotti.
Throughout his tenure, he facilitated the accreditation by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education, the collaboration with the University of Pennsylvania, and the expansion of the school’s audio-visual and technological resources.
"While Fitzpatrick’s tenure as dean was marked by many achievements, it also was clouded by actions with which we are still reckoning, as documented in the September 2020 Cozen O’Connor report involving Curtis violin alumna Lara St. John," a statement by the Curtis Institute of Music reads.
Our condolences to Mr. Fitzpatrick's family, friends, and colleagues.
