Fort Worth Symphony Appoints New Principal Guest Conductor
British conductor Jane Glover succeeds Kevin John Edusei in the role
The Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra recently announced that the British conductor Dame Jane Glover will serve as its new Principal Guest Conductor. Her tenure begins on August 1, 2025.
Glover first led the Fort Worth Symphony in January 2023, and in the 2024/25 season, she will conduct a program of Britten, Ravel, and Mozart, featuring Angela Hewitt as soloist in Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 25. In future seasons, she will conduct at least two subscription concerts.
Glover has conducted all the major symphony and chamber orchestras in Britain, as well as orchestras in Europe, the United States, Asia, and Australia. She has previously served as the Music Director of the Glyndebourne Touring Opera and Artistic Director of the London Mozart Players.
Glover is also a respected pedagogue and has served as Director of Opera at the Royal Academy of Music and as Visiting Professor of Opera at the University of Oxford.
Since 2002, Glover has been Music of the Baroque's music director. She was made a Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire in the 2021 New Year’s Honors.
"I am thrilled to be joining the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra as Principal Guest Conductor and working closely with my dear colleague Robert Spano," Glover said. "When I made my debut here in January 2023, I was struck not only by the superb musicianship of the orchestra but also by the sense of shared love and commitment to great music making that infuses the entire organization."
"We are tremendously excited to welcome Dame Jane to the FWSO," said Music Director Robert Spano. "She is a brilliant musician and conductor, an esteemed musicologist, and her passion for music infuses her performances with electricity. Her expertise in the classical repertoire is well known, but in fact her musical insight spans a broad range of periods and styles. We look forward with anticipation to all that we know she will bring to the musical vitality of our orchestra."
