The Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra has this week announced the appointment of Spanish-American conductor François López-Ferrer as its new Assistant Conductor – effective from the commencement of the 2019-2020 season.

A composition and conducting graduate of the University of Cincinnati and the Zurich University of the Arts, François currently serves as Associate Conductor of the Orquesta Sinfónica de Chile – and has recently lead performances with the Tonhalle-Orchester Zürich, Gstaad Festival Orchestra, Hamburger Symphoniker and the Berner Symphonieorchester.

He will succeed Japanese conductor Keitaro Harada in the role – who will step down at the conclusion of the current season to commence his new appointment as Music and Artistic Director of the Savannah Philharmonic.
