Grand Finalists Announced at China International Music Competition
Competing for a USD $100,000 first prize, three young international violinists will now move on to the final stage of this year's event
China International Music Competition, alternatively known as the Global Music Education League Violin Competition (GMEL), is currently underway. Audiences can watch the competition here on The Violin Channel. After a competitive Mozart Final round, the competition announced the three competitors who will advance to this year's Grand Final:
Chaowen Luo from China
Elli Choi from the United States
Joshua Brown from the United States
The three Grand Finalists will perform a major violin concerto at the National Center for the Performing Arts on Monday, to contend for the color of their medals.
The jury for the competition will comprise Bin Huang (Chairman), Friedemann Eichhorn, Lorenz Nasturica-Herschcowici, Mariusz Patyra, Lucie Robert, Joel Smirnoff, Weidong Tong, and Pavel Vernikov.
The First Prize comprises USD $100,000, a Gold Medal, and three years of concert tours, while the Second Prize equals USD $ 65,000. The Third Prize winner will receive USD $ 30,000 and a Jade Medal. The remaining three non-medal finalists will each receive USD $ 5,000 each and a Diploma.
