Scottish-born violin virtuoso Henri Temianka died on this day in 1992 – aged 85.
A student of Jules Boucherit and Carl Flesch, he was awarded 3rd prize at the 1935 Wieniawski International Violin Competition – behind luminaries Ginette Neveu and David Oistrakh.
For much of his performance career he concertized on the 1727 “Comte Cozio di Salabue” Stradivarius.
