Hilary Hahn Withdraws from Concerts Due to Pinched Nerve
At this stage, Hahn expects to return to performing after September 8, 2024
Violinist Hilary Hahn has withdrawn from all of her concerts up until September 8, 2024 — on account of a double pinched nerve. She had already canceled her July appearances, but will extend that period further to ensure as smooth a recovery as possible.
As a result, Hahn will no longer appear in the planned tour of Europe with the São Paulo Symphony Orchestra, nor give a solo recital in Xi'an or play with the Shanghai Symphony.
Firmly established as a top-tier soloist, Hilary Hahn regularly appears with the world's foremost orchestras and conductors, as well as in solo recitals and as a player of chamber music.
She has also released a total of 22 discs and commissioned many new works — some of them compiled onto the album In 27 Pieces: The Hilary Hahn Encores.
"I’m so sorry to announce that I will be withdrawing from all of my planned concerts through September 8, including my tour of Europe with the São Paulo Symphony Orchestra, solo recital in Xi’an, and my season-opening dates with the Shanghai Symphony," Hahn wrote on social media.
"As you may already know, I am suffering from a double pinched nerve and have been focused on a safe and sustainable path to recovery with my medical team. Unfortunately, that means no violin for the rest of the summer."
"Keep an eye out for further announcements from the presenters regarding substitutions and other updates. In the meantime, I so appreciate all of the support I’ve received from our community. I’ve missed you all this summer, and I can’t wait for the day we can all share music together once again!"
