18-year-old Armenian violinist Diana Adamyan performing Israeli composer Yair Klartag‘s newly-premiered work: Half Tiger, Half Poet for solo violin.

The 4-minute solo work was commissioned for the senior division semi-final round of the 2018 Menuhin Competition.

“Yehudi Menuhin once said “the violinist is that peculiarly human phenomenon distilled to a rare potency – half tiger, half poet” … and it was this acclamation that was my initial inspiration for this work …” Yair has said.

“The expressive duality gradually exposes the hidden underlying currents … behind the opening poetic lines,” the 32 year old 2018 Geneva International Composition Competition prize winner has said.
