Acclaimed Czech concert pianist Ivan Moravec has passed away from pneumonia – aged 84.

A graduate of the Prague Conservatory, during his 65+ year performance career, Mr Moravec performed with most of the world’s notable symphony orchestras – particularly praised for his interpretations of Mozart, Chopin and Debussy.

He was a former recipient of the Cannes Classical Award, for lifetime achievement and in 2000 was presented the ‘Charles IV Prize’ – the Czech Republic’s most prestigious acknowledgement for service to humanity.
