It has been announced today that celebrated New Zealand composer Jack Body has passed away – aged 70.
Recognised as one of New Zealand’s most eminent composers, he was just last week awarded a prestigious Arts Foundation of New Zealand Icon Award.
A expert in Asian music, he collaborated regularly with many of classical music’s biggest names – including the Kronos Quartet.
Mr Body’s ‘Caravan’ for Solo Violin was selected in 2013 as the set work for the Michael Hill International Violin Competition.
