New York’s Mannes School of Music Announces New Quartet-In-Residence
The Mannes School of Music has announced the JACK Quartet as its new Quartet-In-Residence
The Mannes School of Music, in New York City, has today announced the JACK Quartet as its new Quartet-In-Residence - effective from September of this year.
The appointment signals the conclusion of the Orion String Quartet’s 24-year residency with the conservatory.
The tenure will include giving concerts, coaching ensembles and leading student masterclasses - and will see each member of the JACK appointed to the school's major lesson teaching faculty.
“We are thrilled to have the JACK Quartet make Mannes and The New School their educational home … we greatly admire JACK and believe they are a perfect fit for the increasingly contemporary and experimental profile of Mannes …” Mannes School of Music Executive Dean Richard Kessler has today said.
“I have no doubt that their magical approach to repertoire, performance practice, teaching, and inventive projects and partnerships will inspire our students and larger community,” he has said.
The ensemble, formed at the Eastman School of Music in 2005, were earlier this month awarded the University of Washington's 2019 Creative Fellowship - and were recently crowned Musical America's 2019 'Ensemble of the Year'.
