JACK Quartet Signs to New Management

The ensemble will be represented by new boutique artist management organization, Pink Noise Agency

Pink Noise Agency was founded by arts professional Gregory Brown based on the belief that collaboration, cooperation, and community are essential to a thriving artistic ecosystem. Its roster includes the Aizuri Quartet, Claire Chase, Allison Loggins-Hull, Grand Band, Owls, and Roomful of Teeth.

The agency's newest signing is the JACK Quartet, comprised of violinists Christopher Otto and Austin Wulliman, violist John Pickford Richards, and cellist Jay Campbell.

"We’re thrilled to announce that we’re joining the family of artists on Pink Noise Agency’s roster, some of whom we already count among our cherished friends and advisors," the group writes. "At the heart of our newfound connection with Greg Brown and Pink Noise is the undeniable fact that he gets what we do, loves the music, and believes in the impact of perception-altering musical experiences."

Currently, the Quartet in Residence at The New School in New York City, the JACK Quartet operates as a nonprofit organization dedicated to the performance, commissioning, and appreciation of new string quartet music. The quartet has worked with artists such as Julia Wolfe, George Lewis, Helmut Lachenmann, and Caroline Shaw, with upcoming and recent premieres including works by John Luther Adams, Catherine Lamb, Liza Lim, Tyshawn Sorey, Wadada Leo Smith, Amy Williams, and John Zorn.

Musical America’s 2018 “Ensemble of the Year,” the group was also nominated for GRAMMY Awards for recordings in 2018 & 2022, named to WQXR’s “19 for 19 Artists to Watch,” and awarded an Avery Fisher Career Grant.

Through their JACK Studio program, which includes residencies, commissions, readings, and recording, the ensemble aims to dismantle outdated classical music pipelines for composers.

“I am honored and overjoyed to be working with JACK Quartet. Chris, Austin, John, and Jay have demonstrated an unwavering commitment to the deepest levels of musicianship and artistic sensitivity," Brown said. "JACK fosters an inclusive community of musicians and composers via their residency at Mannes and the New School, their own JACK Studio program, and ongoing partnerships with New Music on the Point, Banff Centre, and the University of Iowa.

"We've gotten to hear JACK in the concert hall, in DIY-style venues, in total darkness, on their GRAMMY-nominated recordings, and in community with others. Their curiosity is abundant - I can't wait to see what they discover next!”
