Juilliard Announces 2021 Starling-DeLay Violin Symposium

Dedicated to fostering the legacy of the late Dorothy DeLay, the biennial teaching symposium usually features a five-day festival of intense violin masterclasses, recitals, lectures, and pedagogy sessions

This year, it will be hosted as a four-day online seminar from Tuesday, June 22 to Friday, June 25.

Masterclasses will be held by James Ehnes and Pinchas Zukerman. Pedagogy workshops will be run by Noa Kageyama and Brian Lewis, and injury-prevention workshops will be run by Pamela Frank and Howard Nelson.

Violinist VC Artist Tessa Lark will be this year's recitalist. Other artists to make appearances throughout the symposium include Chee-Yun, Nicole Cherry, and David Kim.

Applications for the Starling-DeLay Violin Symposium are still open and will close on June 1. The application fee is $35, and the participant tuition cost is $350. Preference is given to professional violinists, teachers, graduate students, and college students.
