The Oslo Philharmonic in Oslo, Norway, has this week announced the appointment of 22-year-old Finnish cellist and conductor Klaus Mäkelä as its new Chief Conductor and Artistic Advisor - effective from August 2020.
A graduate of the Sibelius Academy, Klaus currently serves as Principal Guest Conductor of the Swedish Radio Symphony, Artistic Director of the Turku Music Festival - and as Artist-in-Association with the Tapiola Sinfonietta.
He will replace conductor Vasily Petrenko in the role.
