Today is Latvian-German violinist Gidon Kremer‘s 70th birthday.
A student of David Oistrakh, Maestro Kremer is widely regarded as one of the most celebrated musicians alive today.
A strong advocate of new music, he has championed a number of important 20th Century composers – including Ástor Piazzolla, Philip Glass, Alfred Schnittke, John Adams and Sofia Gubaidulina.
