The Staatskapelle Berlin has today announced the appointment of 26 year old Chinese violinist Lifan Zhu as their new Associate Principal Second Violin.
A graduate of the Curtis Institute of Music and The Juilliard School, where she studied with Aaron Rosand and Lewis Kaplan, and current post-graduate student of Kolja Blacher at Berlin’s Hochschule für Musik “Hanns Eisler”, Lifan is a former prize winner at the Seoul, Postacchini and Bucharest International Violin Competitions.
She has previously performed tutti positions with both the Gewandhausorchester, Leipzig and the Staatskapelle Berlin.
