It has been announced this week that Georgian violinist Lisa Batiashvili has been appointed as the new Artistic Director of the Audi Summer Concert series in Ingolstadt, Germany – effective from 2019.
Since beginning in 1990, the summer outdoor concerts, hosted and supported by the Audi luxury car company, have drawn more than a quarter of a million visitors.
Renowned conductors and soloists have included Carlos Kleiber, Zubin Mehta, Nikolaus Harnoncourt, Anne-Sophie Mutter, Lang Lang and Juan Diego Florez.
“For me, Germany is the land of great engineering progress … as well as musical creativity,” the 38 year old virtuoso, who has resided in Germany since the age of 12, has said.
The 2018 Audi Summer Concerts will take place from July 13th–28th – with Finnish violinist Pekka Kuusisto headlining on opening night.
