15-year-old VC Rising Star Maria Dueñas has been awarded 1st prize at the 2018 Vladimir Spivakov International Violin Competition
15-year-old VC Rising Star Maria Dueñas from Spain has today been awarded 1st prize at the 2018 2nd Vladimir Spivakov International Violin Competition - in Ufa, Russia.
A student of 2018 jury member Boris Kuschnir at the Music and Arts University of the City of Vienna and the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz, Maria is a former top prize winner at the Leonid Kogan, Georg Philipp Telemann, Zhuhai and Yankelevich International Violin Competitions.
She will receive at 1912 Riccardo Antoniazzi fine violin - valued at US $140,000.
2nd prize was awarded to 25-year-old Fyodor Beznosikov from Russia.
3rd prize was awarded to 22-year-old Issei Kurihara from Japan.
The 2018 jury comprised: Mikhail Kopelman (Chairman of the Jury), Vladimir Spivakov, Qian Zhou, Takashi Shimizu, Boris Kuschnir and Sergei Dogadin.
