Selling my excellent violin bow made by Johann S. Finkel of Brienz, Switzerland. The round stick is carved from medium chocolate reddish brown pernambuco. The head is finished with a silver plate. The stick is stamped “J. S. Finkel” at the thumb side near the frog. The silver mounted ebony frog is ringed with a pearl eye on each face. The ebony screwbutton has two silver rings and a pearl end dot. The length is 72.4cm, and I believe the weight is 60g but will update when I am able to accurately measure.
This bow is in great playing condition and has been used professionally for about 7 years. I found it to be ideal for orchestral playing, and it would also make a great primary bow for an advanced student. The only defects are a small nick in the corner of the frog (see photo), and the pearl slide needs cleaning – neither affect the sound or feel of the bow. Includes a certificate from W. Moenning & Son. Please let me know if you have any questions.
