NEW TO YOUTUBE | VC Artist Ray Chen Handles Broken String like a Pro

Chen's E string broke during a performance of Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto with the Seattle Symphony

As the Seattle Symphony continued to play, VC Artist Ray Chen looked to conductor Ludovic Morlot before seamlessly switching violins with concertmaster Noah Geller.

During the next section, when Chen was not playing, he passed an extra E-string he was carrying to violinist Mae Lin, who then replaced the broken string.

Chen performed the rest of the first movement on Geller's violin, receiving his own instrument back for the rest of the performance.
