No 1st Prize Awarded at Switzerland’s Tibor Varga Violin Competition
Stella Chen from the United States and Saki Tozawa from Japan have been awarded Joint-2nd prize at the 2017 Tibor Varga International Violin Competition
24 year old Stella Chen from the United States and 16 year old Saki Tozawa from Japan have just minutes ago been awarded Joint-2nd prize at the 2017 Tibor Varga International Violin Competition Sion Valais – in Sion, Valais, Switzerland.
No 1st prize was presented at this year’s competition.
3rd prize was awarded to 23 year old Julie Svecena from the Czech Republic.
A graduate of Harvard University and the New England Conservatory, where she studied with Donald Weilerstein and Miriam Fried, Stella is a former prize winner at the Menuhin Competition and the Los Angeles Philharmonic Bronislaw Kaper Awards.
A current student of Tamai Nana and Tamai Keiji at the Tokyo College of Music Pre-College Programme, Saki is a former 1st prize winner at the Kanazawa Music Competition and the Osaka International Music Competition.
This year’s ‘Audience’ and ‘Tibor Varga’ prizes were both awarded to Stella Chen.
The ‘Youth Jury Award’ was presented to Saki Tozawa.
The 2017 jury comprised: Esther Hoppe, Silvia Marcovici, Lera Auerbach, Dong-Suk Kang, Pavel Vernikov and Miguel De Silva.
