Omega Ensemble and Composer Nico Muhly Launch Bar-by-Bar Commission

Audiences can support this world premiere work by donating a bar of music towards the commission for $100

The new piece will be performed at Melbourne Recital Central on June 24, 2021, alongside Arvo Pärt’s Spiegel Im Spiegel and Messiaen’s Quatuor pour la fin du temps.

American composer Nico Muhly has worked with contemporary artists including Björk, Sufjan Stevens, and Bryce Dessner — and has had two operas premiered by The Met Opera and English National Opera.

Following a collaboration with Omega Ensemble in 2019, Muhly is now writing an exciting new work, to be premiered by the ensemble in June 2021.

Supporters will then receive a one-of-a-kind certificate featuring the bars from the final score that their donation helped support.
