Harmonia Mundi Records has announced the release of violinist Isabelle Faust‘s new album: ‘Mozart: Sonatas for Fortepiano & Violin, Vol. 2‘.

Recorded with acclaimed pianist Alexander Melnikov, the disc features Mozart’s Violin Sonata No. 18 in G Major K301, Violin Sonata No. 22 in A Major K305, Violin Sonata No. 24 in F Major K376 – and Violin Sonata No. 26 in B Flat Major K378.

”We had already started to dig deep into the Mozart Sonatas on period instruments with our Volume 1 release … and we are continuing our journey through this amazing repertoire with this 2nd volume … and with more to come …” Isabelle has told The Violin Channel

”We were particularly wanting to highlight the theatrical, colorful and improvisational style of these Sonata … with both instruments often imitating different characters – with a strong resemblance to certain scenes in Mozart’s operas …” she has said.

“We’ve also found that the period instruments help enormously in bringing out the rhetoric and articulation.”
