Naxos Records has announced the release of Polish-born violinist Kinga Augustyn's new album: 'Romuald Twardowski'.
Recorded with conductor Mariusz Smolij and the Toruń Symphony Orchestra, the new disc features the Violin Concerto, 'Capriccio in Blue', 'Niggunim', 'Melodies of the Hasidim', 'Serenade' for String Orchestra and 'Spanish Fantasia' of contemporary Polish composer, Romuald Twardowski (b. 1930).
"I was looking for another Polish composer whose body of work would appeal to me ... and when I encountered the lesser-known violin pieces of Romuald Twardowski ... I knew immediately that I wanted to learn them and bring them to various audiences ... " Kinga has told The Violin Channel.
"Prof. Twardowski, who studied with the renowned Nadia Boulanger, has lived in various places, and has been musically influenced by multiple cultures and compositional styles ... playing or listening to the three shorter violin pieces on the disc: the 'Spanish Fantasy', the 'Niggunim' and the 'Capriccio in Blue' feels like traveling to and experiencing different places in the world ..." the former Dorothy DeLay student has said.
"My favorite work on the album is the Violin Concerto ... it is much deeper emotionally and the feelings it expresses are much stronger ... it’s more like traveling inside the human soul and heart and exploring what’s in there," she has said.
"I hope the music will communicate all different feelings to the listeners ... I also hope that this repertoire will become of interest to many more conductors and violinists."
